Aftercare Instructions

Wash your hands with fragrance-free antibacterial soap every time before you touch your tattoo. Any bacteria on your hands will get into your tattoo. The best rule of thumb is to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.

As soon as you get to a safe sanitary place, take your covering off of your tattoo and wash it with  fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Air dry. Never recover your tattoo with a bandage or covering.

Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor to your tattoo after washing your tattoo, as needed throughout the day. Do not apply too much, or too little. You do not want your tattoo to dry out, and you also do not want to clog your pores. 

Continue using the Aquaphor until your tattoo begins to flake and/or peel, roughly 3-5 days. At this point switch to unscented Lubriderm. 

Do not submerge your tattoo in water (e.g. bathtub, hot tub, pools, lakes, streams, oceans, etc.) until the healing is complete. Approximately three to four weeks after your appointment. Showers are fine. 

Keep out of the sun, that includes tanning beds. For longevity, once healed, keep SPF on your tattoo while out in the sun or exposed to UV rays. 

Do not peel, pick, or scratch your tattoo. You can infect, or pull ink out this way. If your tattoo is stuck to anything, such as clothing, wet your tattoo before removing object, and then clean.

Keep your tattoo clean at all times. Treat your tattoo as an open wound. Keep you tattoo away from bacteria. Such as, but not limited to, pet dander, dirt, chemicals, lint, dust, etc. If contact is made, wash immediately with antibacterial soap to avoid infection. 

If your pets sleep with you, change your bed sheets, and do not allow them to sleep with you for the duration of your healing. Again, any pet hair or dander that gets in your tattoo can cause infection. Wash immediately if contact is made.
